Walker's Rookie Season
#1
With the season finished and a highly successful first season at Masques Sacrés behind him, we will delve deeper into the striker friendly statistics behind the Luke Walker's league season and see where he excels and where he needs to work.

Average Rating: 7.25 (26th)

Very fair first season rating showing Walker usually contributed and performed when he was on the pitch. 3rd highest average rating on his team (behind Munro and Warrick who had superb seasons) and 26th in the league show his first season was a success. Management will be hoping for more of the same with further improvement yet to come.

Goals & Assists: 9 (=20th) & 3 (=53rd)

Top 20 in goals scored, 2nd top scorer at Masques Sacrés and while not having quite as many assists as he would have liked, he does show he has an eye for a pass. H has also shown he was a threat when put into the right situations. A highly solid start to his career and will want to hit double figures goal wise next season while showing he can create as well as finish.

Dribbling: 23 (=61st)

Whether it was the role he played or his mentality, dribbling was not something he did very much of. Firmly middle of the pack when it came to this. While no one is expecting him to become a dribbling maestro in the future, no doubt will want to increase his numbers to become more of a threat while running with the ball.

POTM: 0

Often the bridesmaid but never the bride, when he played well others just pipped him to the award (Warrick and Munro the main culprits to this with their fantastic seasons). Will want to start to show his quality next season and take hold of his position within the team.

Shots & Shots on Target: 57 (=15th) & 22 (=28th)

Happy to shoot, erratic at times when needing to hit the target. Certainly something that he will want to change and will work on in the off season. While the best goalscorers in the league hover around 50% of their shots being on target, Walker sits at 39%. And while the top 5 goalscorers in the league are 50% or better from scoring from their shots on target, Walker sits at 41%. While not a million miles away, improvement is needed and any improvement will see goals total rise and threaten best in the league.

Assessment: B

There are some great signs that Walker will soon transform that undoubted potential into genuine world-beating ability. He showed flashes at times of what he can do and will want to show that more often and at critical times during the matches next season. It will be interesting to see his development and if he can turn his sold rookie season into a foundation of his success in years to come.
