Alexis Ramos' journey in the SSL has been anything but normal. She took the league by storm when she first took the field in the Academy. She was extremely fast and athletic, but lacked skill in any other aspect of the game. Even teammates where irritated when the young footballer found a measure of success sheerly through pace. But while some success was found on the field, things would quickly come down to earth in the Season 20 entry draft. Despite her obvious skill and dedication, Ramos fell all the way to pick 50 being drafted behind such notable stars as "PASS."
Ramos took the perceived slight as a challenge. She was determined to prove that nobody should have been picked ahead of her. And more importantly, she was offended that "nobody" literally was taken instead of her on several occasions. As she continued to work, she moved up the list as her fellow prospects fell of in their development. The 50th overall pick was proving everyone wrong.
Then came expansion. Tokyo FC made the decision to trust in their young piece and protected Ramos in the expansion draft. But, disaster had already struck. Unbeknownst to the team, Ramos had vanished. Where? Why? It remains a mystery. Tokyo management were relieved to hear the Ramos was indeed alive and well months after the disappearance, but still, she did not grace the practice field for months more.
Today, video footage was published showing Alexis Ramos, fast as ever, working on her game in an attempt to make a comeback. While she can't get back the time that was lost, the female phenom who still ranks 33rd in her draft class has a shot to prove that she should never have been doubted... even after 6 months.
