Navigating an Offseason of Change
#1
Professional football can be grueling. Even more grueling in your first professional season. As Dwayne Pruney comes out of his first full season as a professional playing for North Shore United, he's seemingly excited about what's to come.

"I'm not incredibly thrilled with my play all season, but I do believe this is a building blocks type of year for me. I have had an opportunity to sit down with club ownership and reflect on the season that was. It seems they share a bit of that same sentiment. Coach Rashford mentioned that the team may ask for me to consider a position change before our next season here in North Shore rolls around. I'm excited at the prospect of more time on the pitch and additional opportunities to really show what I can do to help our clubs win more games."

Off the back of North Shore's worst output since Season 19, there's bound to be some challenges for growth across the roster this offseason. With Gaisburg and Mitidiero teetering off a potential promotion to the Reykjavic major's squad, North Shore could have some pretty large shoes to fill in the defensive midfield.

"Perhaps that's what coach is thinking," Pruney mentioned in his exit media following North Shore's final match of the season, a 2-0 shutout against Rapid Magyar, "with some openings in the back unit, I am happy to explore an opportunity to put on a different pair of boots for the upcoming campaign."

In either case, a sophomore season already seems to look promising for Pruney. While still relatively unknown coming out of this past season's academy class, a continued steady and marked improvement in his development has made him easily one of the top 10 players to watch coming out of the season 23 class. As Reykjavic and North Shore both look ahead, a very limited season 24 class puts even more pressure on the growth and progression of the Englishman. He'll just have to hope that whatever changes are in store for him this offseason, that he's up for the challenge and shows up next season ready to get to work and take advantage of the opportunity in front of him.
