2026-01-18, 08:01 PM - Word count:
Bernardo Fry returned from the World Cup wearing a winner's medal. None were more surprised than Fry himself. It was a long and unsuccessful season at Cataluna. Low goals were set and then failed. Motivation was hard to come by. Success was insubstantial. Nevertheless, the Pyrenees Union called and Fry answered.
The first surprising mark was that Fry was no longer playing Left Attacking Midfielder - he was moved to Right Inverted Striker. His counterpart Bonito was moved over to the same position on the left, and Rubio stood tall in the center ready to score the goals. Lead by the ceaseless work of Cotswold, win after win showed up on the scoresheet. Fry started off the unbeaten run by intercepting a poor pass and making a solo run through the defense and putting the first goal for the team in himself. Rubio put in more goals that any could reasonably expect, picking up the crosses from Fry and Bonito.
When the team finally first trailed in the Final, 0-2 - things looked bleak. Cotswald pulled the team back together, throwing himself into tackle after tackle and setting up numerous opportunities until the score stood at 3-2. Even when the game swiveled again and we trailed again at 3-4, despite the odds, the team held firm. Crosses and passes bombarded the enemy penalty area, and a 4th and 5th goal were tallied up.
Victorious, shocked, and headed home, Fry was full of wonder. Can Cataluna do the same? Next season...
