Curtis Yeager: Week 1 Analysis
#1
Week One was a quiet day for Port Royal as a whole, as the team would lose in a 2-0 fashion to Istanbul F.K. Yeager would have a decent day on both sides of the ball, going 31/35 on his passing for the day. In terms of advanced metrics, Yeager would end up actually blocking a shot successfully in addition to a solid 50% successful press rate. No goals nor any stats in relation to goals, which is perfectly fine by me.

The biggest thing Yeager needs to work on is his willingness to pass up field and generate attack opportunities. Now, this isn't entirely controlled by him, obviously. It depends on the skills of the strikers and other midfielders on if they are able to make these attack opportunities happen as well as overall team strategy. But I think Yeager's approach can work overall as Port Royal increases in overall TPE. Four of his successful passes were to bring the ball up field, a measly 13% clip in that category. It's not a bad rate, but considering Yeager has styled himself as a pass-first midfielder, there is room for improvement in both this aspect of his game as well as the defensive side that we'll hopefully see as the season goes on.
