Doctor Wad: Humble Beginnings
#1
Hard work and Humble beginnings a story about Doctor Wad.
Back when Doctor Wad was a child he used to grow up watching the local teams duke it out for glory at the community park every Sunday afternoon. This was mostly in part of his father "Bruno Smith" playing for the local semi-pro team, The Aubrunson Manatees, every Sunday from age 5 to 15 Doctor Wad was there watching his dad play. Doctor Wad would sit and watch his dad play back to back games each week, one game as a forward and one game as a midfielder. in the games his father played as a forward Doctor Wad had no real interest in, his father was a sub par striker after all and was second string, almost all of the credit went to his wingers for leading the charge in their first match. When the second matches would begin that's when the teams main striker would show up and lead the line, pushing his father back into the midfield but this is where Doctor Wad would really pay attention as this was his father's primary position. Bruno wad a no nonsense center defensive midfielder and even in his late 30's didn't mess about when it came to tackling, whether it was crunching tackle that left his opponents in shambles or a risky slide tackle it seemed like his father Bruno never put the wrong foot forward for his team. As a child it was mesmerizing to Doctor Wad to the point where had his father teach him everything he knew to master the position. Initially Bruno was hesitant to teaching Doctor Wad how to play in his position due to Doctor being just 7 years old at the time of asking, but after many weeks of begging and pleading Bruno gave in. After months and years of blood, sweat and tears Doctor became (in his father's eyes) the perfect defensive midfielder. Bruno had instilled a hard working and brutal tackling mindset into Doctor making him perfect for a 3 at the back system, teaching him when to contribute forward and where to shift when returning to defensive duties.

It was at age 13 when Doctor Wad had his first break, he was given a 3 game trial for the Aubrunson Manatees Youth team based off the fact that his father was good friends and teammates with who was once the Manatees lead striker now head coach Domenic Nanjuharo. It only took 30 minutes into his debut match for Doctor to make 2 crucial tackles to prevent a counter attack and provide 1 assist to their winger for Domenic to see the gem of a player that Doctor Wad would grow to become. After the 3 game trial ended Doctor had stopped 4 Clear Cut Chances, provided 1 goal and 1 assist. It was after these 3 games where a 3 year contract was offered to the Smith-Wad family for Doctor. It was here where Doctor slowly moved away from the Non nonsense defending play style into a more progressive passer. Doctor wad used to be tasked with Defensive duties where he had to focus on intercepting the ball and breaking up attacks, his role was to help maintain shape and provide cover, but while playing under Big Dom he was slowly given the keys to start initiating attacks. There was a few practices where Doctor Wad would participate in set pieces and he managed to catch the eye of his coach as it seemed that he was able to play his teammates forward without any issue. It was here where Doctor Wad's future changed, as he grew bigger and stronger his free kicks became more of a threat for his opposition, assists and goals came from the unlikely source of a central defensive midfielder. leading to him being amongst the top 5 goal scorers of his "break out" season for the Manatees.

After Doctor Wads 3rd and final season for the Manatees, now 16 years old he recorded 57 games started out of 66 appearances netting 9 goals and 17 assists he was close to making the decision of finishing his footballing career to begin his studies to become a Doctor after his name sake to put his mother Saasha Wad's mind to ease for a steady and stable future. It was the same night he had made that decision and began looking at schools that would take his scholarships that he received a phone call from a scout from a fairly large academy located in Sydney. The scout promised success and opportunities to be drafted into the well known SSL, after a few hours of talking with the woman on the phone she convinced Doctor Wad to give football one more chance before he puts the boots away forever to pursue his medical career. This was enough to get Doctor Wad onto a plane to go and just take a look at the facilities.

It took 3 weeks of planning and pulling some money from the side to get plane tickets for Doctor, Bruno and Saasha to fly to Sydney, Australia just to see what the scouting team and footballing staff had to offer Doctor. After a long and grueling flight from the United States to Australia they finally landed and made their way to the footballing grounds and met with the scout and head coach. Hours of chatting and a whole grounds tour later they had sold Doctor Wad a dream of making it. What surprised Doctor the most wasn't the shiny facility or luxurious footy grounds, it was the amount of knowledge they had about him. Per the scout they happened to be in the area and witnessed what Doctor Wad considered to be the best game of his youth career where he managed 1 set piece goal, 1 assist and a goal line clearance. The scout said she never was there to actually draft a talent but couldn't let the opportunity or chance slip her by, she had made arrangements to stay for 2 more weeks and come to every game to see if Doctor was the player she was looking for, and just by watching 2 more games she knew she had her answer. Hearing all of this is what convinced Doctor to give footballing one more chance. In the Hotel room after the long day Doctor sat with his mother and father and asked permission to follow his dream one more time. His mother was initially hesitant but after some convincing from Doctor and Bruno she gave in to let her little boy have one more chance to make it.

Today Doctor Wad captains Inter London, He may not be as flashy as he was as a kid but his set pieces are one that are starting to be noticed as he has managed 3 goal contributions in his last 5 games in all competitions.
