Further misadventures in SSL spreadsheeting
#1
Last I played around with spreadsheets in the SSL, it was to make a census of sorts of SSL attribute scores, to check whether certain attributes were undervalued or overvalued, and to suggest new attribute point prices (in TPE) based on demand. The TL;DR: pace and acceleration don't cost enough, and maybe certain things should cost more or less based on your position.

Today began a new spreadsheeting misadventure. I dusted off the SSL API (to grab player builds again), and also scrounged up online info about the "Current Ability" score hidden in the background in FM24 (and all FM versions, with occasional change). Our organizational overlord, @FaraDian, like any good communist dictator, told us that SFV needed everyone's help to improve on recent performance, and I volunteered a spreadsheet.

It will surprise no one that SSL player evaluation isn't quite the same as other FM24 player evaluation. Potential in FM is irrelevant in the SSL, only TPE earning and prudent spending does. SSL players also spread their attribute points around much more efficiently than normal FM24 players.

So, my spreadsheet is starting off by vaguely mathing the builds of SFV players according to the Current Ability attribute weightings. I don't have the actual CA formula, and don't really care - the point is to have something that says "for this position, these attributes have more value", then check whether a player has been built accordingly, or else guide the next arc of their build accordingly.

I've got the bones of it now, and we just need to put the right meat on those bones now. We should be able to tweak the guidance that's out there for FM24, adjust it for how much unfairly better SSL players can get relative to normal FM24 players, and then see to what extent that helps us build as an organization in SFV.

In an ideal world, it ends up being worth two or three points in the standings in some future season. More realistically, it probably ends up being worth 10% less work to achieve the same result we would achieve otherwise.

And, of course, one hopes it pleases our new dictator in the new communist era of SFV.
