Dear diary,
After learning that I was being assigned to Port Royal FC for the academy season, I booked my plane ticket to Kingston. After arriving the first thing I did was check in with the coaching staff and found decent place close to the stadium to stay at while I'm in Jamaica for the time being. The manager showed me around and where my locker is is. After the tour he told me to get to the stadium by 9 AM to start training with my teammates. As I was practicing the manager said to come into his office after practice because there was something important he needed to tell me. I arrived at his office and knocked on the door and heard him say "come in." My immediate response was "you wanted to see me?" "yes" he said, "because of when you were assigned to this team there's a chance that you might not play in our first match against PS Jakarta." I took this in stride and responded that even though I might not I will still be there and support the team
The next day I received a call at 8:30 AM from the manager that I need to get my ass to his office ASAP as he has some more news for me. I got to his off ice a couple of minutes later and my first question was "did I do something wrong? Why was I called into the office before practice?" His response was simple"you didn't do anything wrong in fact I've got some good news for you. The board of directors has given us approval to play you in our first match against Jakarta." I responded back "that's a sigh of relief, I thought I did something wrong." I was then informed that I was going to be playing a a CAM for this match
The day finally comes and I was both excited and nervous to be playing in my first match. It did not go well for Port Royal, the team struggles to get the ball past PS Jakarta's midfielders and we lost the game 2-0. While it's disappointing it's also a good first step and we can always improve. I also I know where I need to improve on the most right now and I will continue to work hard
