How can Stockholm improve going forward?
#1
Stockholm in the Academy has had an interesting start to the season so far, winning 1 game and losing two. I think the team has been very Jekyll and Hyde through three games. In both of the losses, I can not say that I was particularly impressed with the team's performance. The midfield and attack looked very out of sync. Although our goalie Cheese would be quick to blame these losses on himself, I do not feel like I can place much blame on him in good conscience. For example, in our game against Sydney City, an all Bot team, one of the goals they scored came from a failure from our midfield to execute a simple throw in, which led to a quick counter attack the other way which ended up in the back of our net. These types of mistakes need to be remedied for us to contend for the Academy title this season. It has not been all negatives though, as we looked pretty dominant in our only win so far. In that game, we possessed the ball very well and dominated the midfield. This shows me that we as a team are capable of rectifying the mistakes made in our two losses.

I think going forward we need to come through with a new gameplan. I believe that we need to lean further into an attacking mentality. Besides Cheese our goalie and Captain Blackbeard, a very attacking fullback, the rest of our user controlled players are attackers or midfielders. We need to capitalize on these strengths by attempting to apply an overwhelming amount of pressure on the opposing teams' defenses. With our newest recruit, Janson, another striker, I would like to see us shift to a two striker system, making Bubblegum and Janson a fearsome duo, backed behind some great playmakers like Adamonis, Dono, Wouters, Stotch, and Blackbeard. If we can keep the pressure on the other team to make stops, that will be less pressure on our own defense and netminder. As they say, the best defense is a good offense, and I hope to see this philosophy pay off next week.
