2026-07-04, 06:23 AM - Word count:
Athenai FC managed to snatch a late draw against Seoul MFC with practically the last kick (or head) of the ball. The match finishing 2-2 but Seoul will without doubt be the unhappier of the sides having given themselves plenty of chances to take the victory but unable to see it out.
With Athenai FC only having two shots on target (both ending up as goals) there is real questions on whether their goalkeeper Twinkletoes will be here come the end of the season. With rumours abound of him missing training on a regular basis he seems to know the team don't have many other options currently between the sticks and taking advantage of the situation knowing he will be picked regardless of the situation. With his save percentage at 62.86% before this game and clearly won't be improving after it, showing he has been poor this season, this latest match will hardly prove any of his numerous doubters wrong that he is not the keeper for this team.
A distinct lack of goals too for the front duo of Walker and Huntelrooy has not helped either during the season and many will be hoping these two find their feet and start to form the deadly relationship they know will happen, it's just a matter of when rather than "if". The biggest surprise does seem to be the form of Walker, last seasons Golden Boot winner with zero goals to his name. Whether this is down to lack of service or more of a personal issue we can't be sure. But having only 3 shots on target out of 13 shots will not lead to many goals and this is something that will need to be improved. In fact looking deeper into the stats, Walker is the only player after 4 matches to have taken 10 shots at least and not scored, hopefully more of a statistical anomaly. Seoul will need him to find his shooting boots to improve their standing within the table but anyone writing him off need to remember this is a player who last season also got off to a slow start before powering his way to the Golden Boot. If Seoul can find a way to get this Walker back, the league will need to watch out.
You have been warned!
