So just after the halfway point in this minors season I wanted to check in on the class of S26 and see how our rookies are fairing. Expectations aren’t especially high but the minor league is a real mixed bag, and the simulation gods can work in mysterious ways.
Starting at the bottom of the standings after MD7, Athenai FC have a disappointing time at the ground floor. From S26, goalkeeper Moew enBach has the unenviable record of conceding 23 goals, while outfield players Gold Ship and Mullet Man each have one assist. Those who say its tough at the top should try being at the bottom for a while to see if its any easier. Good luck.
Seoul MFC occupy 5th place in Minors Division 2, with former academy star Dennis van Huntelrooy enjoying one goal and 2 assists, with Star Scream (now a wing back) has one assist. Jayson Bryzski has the highest pass percentage on the squad at 86.3% but is yet to really make his mark on the minor league.
Next up, AF Masques Sacres has the highest number of S26 players so far with 7 rookies taking the field for them this season. THRAXXii La’mort has had an impressive 3 assists in just 1.5 appearances, while Sadie Black and Saphira Brightscales both have a goal apiece. Isiah Alli (90% pass completion) and Le Chonk seemed to have been utilised much more defensively. Lencho Ash can enjoy being the 5th highest rated goalkeeper in Minors Division 2. Admittedly that is out of 5. Record academy goalscorer Nacho Kusora is yet to make an appearance.
Cairo City’s rookie goalie Umaq Yupanqui has one PoM to their name, while former goalkeeper Eric Duic and Emanuel Ofusu each have a goal. Scorp E. Unshark has ran nearly 100km over 7 games, Baptiste Azzola has 3 assists but Leonardo Stone has 2 goals and 1 assist from just 4 shots on target which shows great economy.
Montreal United’s Scottish trio of attacking midfielders have proved that brothers can share, with 1oa Barry McGlynn, Bruce McAllister and 2oa Reece Munro all having one goal to their name. Christopher Bergmann also has a goal from right back, but Luis Fonseca (IA) hasn’t registered an appearance.
Reaching the top of Minor League 2, CS Rova have had a dominant season so far, surely thanks to their rookies Jack Pow, with 3 goals and 4 assists, and Slabko Plackovic’s… 630 minutes played. They seemed destined to be promoted to Minor League Division 1.
Speaking of which, how have our rookies fared much better in the higher division?
Clamped to the bottom of the table for now at time of writing, Inter London’s Jimothy Erickson has struggled to make meaningful contributions, symptomatic of the team’s fresh promotion and struggles in Division 1. Meanwhile Maujiro Rivers has two goals to their name.
For Rapid Magyar, Joe Mormor’s move to left back has led to two assists and 99km of exhausting running, Josh Harper also has two assists. S Sei has 88% pass completion, but I remember by their own admission, CDM’s need time to shine and often don’t get the stats. Cory Stevens has unfortunately let in 20 goals, hence Magyar’s bottom half performance, whereas Owen Bryant has an assist, as does Tim Quackereedoo.
Krung Thep had a quiet draft as an org, with only my former Accra teammate Blaise N’Kufo, who I’m delighted to see has two goals and an assist!
Conversely, Kaapstad’s rookie pool is rather large, picking up myself with 2 assists and over 100km of running since moving to CDM, Joshua Homme Esquire III with a goal and 3 assists, John McDougal with a goal, Felix Pedro with a goal and 2 assists, Kaz Okada slotting into defence nicely and finally Dante Von Wolfe, picking up their first goal of the season just last week. Onwards and upwards.
As we reach nearer the top, North Shore’s rookies are showing why they were so desirable, with Alex Pena continuing his astonishing run from the academy with 7 assists in 7 games, head and shoulders above any of our other rookies, Kairo Vox chipping in with a goal and an assist and Martin Krpan with 34 clearances.
Finally, AS Paris and their three rookies. Owen Goal contributing with a single goal, Saba Kvekvetsia with amazing 2 goals and 4 assists and 1 player of the match performance despite only appearing in 3 and a half games. Ignignokt also contributing an assist from defence.
Overall, a mixed bag from our S26 class (apologies if anyone got missed), but showing that as we all progress, there’s hope yet. I myself scored an absolutely worldie just yesterday, but Alex Pena is clearly the best of us... so far.
