The First 3 Games for Holmbeg
#1
Game 1 vs Inter London

CD Alfama's inaugural season begins with a match against inter London. Gösta Holmberg is slightly nervous, as it will be his first professional game. He's obviously very excited as well, but he feels a god amount of pressure going into the game. For Holmberg, he wants to perform well and show that the ASC Yumboes and CD Alfama organizations made the right choice with drafting him.

Nine minutes into the game, Holmberg makes his first impact on the game. Doto holds the ball just outside CD Alfama's box, but Holmberg comes in and tackles the ball away from him and chips it towards the middle of the field where Francis from Inter London retrieves the loose ball. Holmberg gets bit distracted and ends up way out of position, going nearly to the other sideline from his starting position on the left side of the field. Inter London takes advantage of this lapse in judgement and attacks. Doto sends a low cross to Cain and he sends it into the back of the net. Holmberg almost got bailed out with a potential offside from Inter London, but sadly Cain stayed on side for his goal. Not the best look for Holmberg in his first professional league game.

The rest of the first half is quiet for Holmberg, though he wishes he was able to make more of an impact in his first 45 minutes. Inter London leads 3-0, putting 17 shots towards the CD Alfama goal which results in a 2.09 expected goals. Going into the second half, CD Alfama for sure needs to change something as they have no shots and had only 39% possession in the first half. Holmberg has a 6.3 player rating in his first 45 minutes of professional ball. There is a lot of room for improvement.

At the 47th minute, Holmberg makes a solid defensive play by capitalizing on a overplay by Doto as he tried to get past Holmberg. Holmberg tries to pass it back to Doner Kebab, but the pass misses the mark and ends up behind Doner Kebab and Munro jumps into the play and sends the ball wide of the net as Wall Jr attempts to get the ball. Holmberg gets lucky after a bit of a odd timing play between him and his teammates.

Holmberg gets a chance to redeem himself at the 54th minute. Bubblegum gets a pass to Holmberg just at the edge of the box and Holmberg has all the time in the world. Holmberg tries too much though, and Jertonghen makes a tackle and sends the ball the other way and Inter London is back on the attack. Holmberg hustles hard to get back and prevent a cross, but it isn't enough and Mendes puts the ball into the goal.

Drawing a penalty the 79th minute is about all Holmberg can do positively for CD Alfama in this game. He would get pushed by Francis on an attempted header. Bubblegum would take the penalty, though sadly her shot would be stopped by Kakou.

Holmberg would help CD Alfama break the clean sheet for Inter London at the 86th minute, sending a low cross to Man who does a flying ninja kick to score CD Alfama's first goal in team history. A beautiful play all around, though it doesn't exactly ease the sting of the score now being 5-1 in favour of Inter London.

No an ideal first game for CD Alfama, being outshot 28 to 6, and losing 6-2 to Inter London in their first game in history. Gösta Holmberg would finish the game with a player rating of 6.8 and having one assist. Not an ideal first game for Holmberg, with multiple mistakes made. Hopefully he learns from those mistakes in and he can move on.

Game 2 vs Athenai F.C.

Going into game two, CD Alfama and Gösta Holmberg look to improve from the first game and make perform better overall. Going into the match, Athenai F.C. are also looking to improve from the previous game as they lost their season opening game as well.

The first half of this game was realtively quiet for Holmberg. No mistakes, no key offensive plays. Just a simple passes and winning headers. The score is 2-1 Athenai F.C. with Athenai having 6 shots to CD Alfama's 3. Possession is 50/50, and both teams having an expected goal of less than 1. Holmberg sits at a player rating of 6.5 through the first 45 minutes of play.

To start the second half, Holmberg makes a play along the sidelines to knock the ball from Duck and give Athenai F.C. a throw in. A minute later Holmberg would demonstrate a composure to his game by making a solid pass back to Hawkins while being pressured by Duck and Munoz.

The rest of the half would be similar to the first half. Many simple, smart plays being made by Holmberg but nothing game changing. Though his game was simple and calm, the game itself was anything but. Athenai F.C. would outshoot CD Alfama 19 to 9, and possession would end up being 51/49 in favour of Athenai. The game would be a 2-2 draw going into extra time, but Lorenzo for Atheani F.C. would score at the 90th minute and put CD Alfama into a panic. That is until CIC would send a perfect cross to Bubblegum and she would put the ball into the back of the net to bring the game to its final score of 3-3. A nail biting game for sure, and both CD Alfama and Athenai F.C. have their season records changed to 0-1-1.

Game 3 vs AF Masques Sacres

Going into this game, Gösta Holmberg and CD Alfama knew they would need to be performing at their best. AF Masques Sacres is one of the top teams in their league, and will be a true test for the young squad. Not too awful to get a solid test so early in the season, AF Masques Sacres will capitalize on all mistakes that CD Alfama commit today.

Eighteen minutes into the game, Holmberg's first play of the game is receiving a pass and trying to get past Black. Sadly, Black denies Holmberg and takes the ball for himself. AF Masques Sacres go on the counter attack, but the play ends in a goal kick for CD Alfama after Kunicki sends the ball into orbit just outside the penalty box.

At the 22nd minute, Holmberg ends up being a key component in a corner kick. Holmberg planted himself at the top of the box, and when the corner failed he had plenty of time and space. Instead of going for a shot with heavy traffic right in front of him, he passes over to Plačkovič off to the side of the box by himself. Plačkovič then sends a pass to Bubblegum who boots it past Ash to give CD Alfama the lead.

Holmberg would have a perfect opportunity at the 27th minute, receiving a huge cross from Velox from across the field. He would have plenty of space just inside the box, but Black leaps and clears it out to Emerson. The resulting counter attack from AF Masques Sacres would lead to a goal to tie the game back up.

Holmberg would send a pass to Man at the 32nd minute that would look promising, but Man is taken down and is staying down. The refs award a penalty kick to CD Alfama. Bubblegum would then give CD Alfama the lead again by beating Ash in the penalty kick.

The rest of the half would be quiet for Holmberg, continuing to make simple passes and try to get the ball forward to players like Bubblegum or Man who have a habit of finding the back of the goal. After the first 45 minutes, CD Alfama leads 2-1 over AF Masques Sacres. Though CD Alfama would only have  shots to AF Masques Sacres 12, they are hanging in with the higher ranked team. This would also be the first time in CD Alfama's short history that they would enter the second half with the lead.

Holmberg would not see much key plays during the second half, continuing to keep his game simple and make good passes. However, CD Alfama would have anything but a quiet second half. CIC would get a shot and put it into the back of the net and give CD Alfama a 3-1 lead, though the refs would award as an own goal because it deflected off MetalBeard. AF Masques Sacres would then score at the 89th minute to bring them back to with in a goal. CD Alfama were with in reach of the teams first win in its short history, all they would have to do is hold on. AF Masques Sacres would make a push, but sadly they would not be able to tie the game up and get the draw. CD Alfama would win 3-2, and upset a team that many in the league thought would run straight through CD Alfama. CD Alfama would vbe outshot 7 to 23, and would only posses the ball 38% of the time. That said they played hard and took advantage of every bit of possession they had. A truly remarkable game for CD Alfama, and hopefully the first of many wins for the team moving forward.
