Best in Slot sounds a bit funny here, and you may think this is designed to look at which players are the best at their positions. But alas, that's too common, too easy, so for this article I will be looking at who is the best draftee at each skill. Who's the fastest? Who's the best passer? I'll take a look at each attribute and see who has the best rating so far.
One of the more interesting things I found here, was that every single attribute has at least someone spend some TPE on it, except for Eccentricity and Tendency To Rush, both exclusive Goalkeeper attributes in a class of only 3 keepers (2 of whom are inactive, so it doesn't give a lot of people to pick from to upgrade it lol). So we might as well get to it, because there's a lot of attributes to go through.
Acceleration
There are 5 players who have almost capped their acceleration attribute already, and they are Franco Maestro, Stephen Eustaquisquid, Michele Honcho, Pau Budget, and Justin Case, all with 18 acceleration. These players will be getting to their top speed as fast as possible - hopefully their top speed is high enough to make it worth it.
Agility
There is 1 player alone who has the highest agility in the academy, and that is Brickwall Buse with 16 agility. As a defender, it should make Buse quite difficult to dribble around.
Balance
The player with the highest balance in the league is Inex Jr. While not earning TPE, perhaps the high balance was key to their success regardless.
Jumping Reach
There are 2 players with 15 Jumping Reach, Inex Jr. and Pau Budget. Given Inex Jr. has the highest average rating of any player this season, perhaps this build was onto something.
Pace
The 5 players who sit at 18 pace are almost the same 5 players who have 18 acceleration - Maestro, Eustaquisquid, Honcho, and Budget. They are joined oddly on this one by Goalkeeper Samy Natero Jr. I'm not sure if pace has any actual value for keepers, but they tried it nonetheless.
Strength
The one player in the league with 14 strength is Ollie Turner, valuable for a defender to fight off the strikers trying to break away from them.
Aggression
Perhaps it's an attribute that some may not consider great, as too much aggression can lead to penalties, but regardless Jagga Smith is the league's leader with 9 aggression.
Anticipation
A valuable trait for any player, to think ahead of the play and take advantage of it, the leader here (by quite a large margin) is Omar Khattib with 15 - no one else has more than 12.
Bravery
An interesting attribute, I'm not sure how much value there is to it, and neither do most players, as there's only one player with more than 7 bravery - it's Omar Khattib again with 13.
Composure
Under pressure, it can be very valuable for players to remain unfazed in the face of it. This one goes to the benefit of Char Zard with 14 composure.
Concentration
It's important to be able to stay focused on the game when it counts, and no one is better than Brickwall Buse, with 15 concentration.
Decisions
Making the right decisions is incredibly important - one wrong decision can be the turnover that leads to a goal, a bad shot on a winning chance, or the missed mark that leaves the opponents with a clear chance. There are 3 players in the league with 13 in decisions to lead - Alyssa Barnes, Led Tasso, and Brickwall Buse.
Determination
The leader in determination is Emmanuel Bocande, with 12.
Flair
The flashiest player in the league is Katherine Valar with 12. Flair is a bit of a funny attribute, you could argue that having some flair doesn't really provide much value on the field, but sometimes there are plays that only the flashiest players even think about making.
Leadership
Being a leader is incredibly valuable, having someone who's willing to guide, and always be the player the rest of the team looks for is huge for a team, and an incredibly difficult position for the player. The player who leads the league in leadership is Sheldon Enow with 10.
Off The Ball
Being in the right place and doing the right things even when you don't have the ball is an oft-overlooked skill - not for Led Tasso, who leads the league with 13.
Positioning
I'd almost argue there's nothing better than knowing where you need to be and when. The leader in positioning is Brickwall Buse with 16.
Teamwork
The leaders in teamwork are Alyssa Barnes and Led Tasso with 13. Being able to play with the team, being a member of the team might matter more than all the talent in the world - if no one wants to give you the ball, it won't matter what you do.
Vision
Being able to see the field right helps facilitate all your other skills. Positioning, decision making, etc all rely on your vision of the field. Someone who's led many of these categories is Led Tasso, who also leads in vision with 13.
Work Rate
Gotta work hard to play hard. Alyssa Barnes leads the league with 13 work rate.
Corners
Corner kicks can be few and far between, but someone needs to be able to put the ball in the right spot, and in this case the best option is Angry Lizard Jr. with 10.
Crossing
There are 4 players tied for the lead with 10 crossing, Anthony Privett, Eghosa Nwachukwu, Vegetable Lasagna, and Angry Lizard Jr.
Dribbling
It may surprise you that our TPE leader hasn't appeared much on this list, but our best dribbler is none other than Franco Maestro with 13.
Finishing
Our goal scorer's attribute, the leader in finishing is Super Luigi with 15. It didn't work out exceptionally well for Luigi though, with only 1 goal in 5 games.
First Touch
The ability to handle the ball well off the first touch is difficult, and our leader is Led Tasso once again with 13.
Free Kick
Not many players have invested much into free kicks - only 2 players have spent any TPE on it - and the leader is Jagga Smith with 8.
Heading
You might think some goal seekers might invest more, but the leaders in heading are only at 11 - a tie between Omar Khattib and Super Luigi.
Long Shots
Not generally a valuable shot to take, but for the ones who wish to, it's Char Zard and Super Luigi who lead the league at 12.
Long Throws
For a brief time when I was compiling all this info, I thought no one had put any TPE into their throws. But I did eventually find Brickwall Buse with 9.
Marking
Playing your man well on defense is very important, and Omar Khattib leads the league with 13. Quite a lot of players have nothing invested, and no one has more than 10.
Passing
Moving the ball is probably the most important part of the game - you can't get the ball out of your half, can't create chances, can't really do anything without good passing. The leader in passing is carter black with 14.
Penalty Taking
It's an odd one. Penalties are so rare, it's not worth investing in them. But because they are so rare and so powerful, you don't want to miss them. It's a bit of a paradox of investment here, and that's left fairly low invetment - our 3 leaders are tied with Ollie Turner, Super Luigi, and Jagga Smith.
Tackling
Our most contested attribute. There are 6 players tied for the lead in tackling, all with 10. Anthony Privett, Micool CXXXII, Ollie Turner, Vegetable Lasagna, Angry Lizard Jr., and Sheldon Enow.
Technique
There are 4 players tied with the highest technique, Rylee Knock, Byakko, Led Tasso (again), and Inex Jr. all with 12.
Goalkeeping
I've grouped goalkeeping all into 1 here because there's only 3 keepers, and 2 of them are inactive. Obi-Wan Kenobi is the leader in all goalkeeping attributes except reflexes. That attribute goes to Brandon Blackfyre. Kenobi leads in aerial reach, command of area, communication, handling, kicking, one on ones, tendency to punch, and throwing. As mentioned at the top of the article, eccentricity and tendency to rush are both completely without investment.
That covers everything - if you're looking for players in the draft with any of these specialties, now you know who to look for.
