Promotion Heartbreak
#1
With the Minor League season now over, Inter London are one of the few teams still playing meaningful football. This week was the promotion match between Inter London and Montreal United. In what is likely to be Joao Mendes' final match with the minor affiliate before getting called up, he wants to end his minor league career with a memorable win.

Unfortunately, Inter London were heartbroken with a 3-2 loss in extra time to Montreal United. Resetti Moretti opened the scoring for London in the 8th minute. Vincent Haye hit the bar on a penalty shot in the 15th minute. Benjamin Munro doubled the lead in the 26th minute. Reece Munro cut the lead in half with a goal in the 34th minute, and it stayed the way until half-time. The second half was very tight, but Vincent Haye scored the tying goal in the 90th minute to force extra time. In the additional 30 minutes, Tadgh O'Hurley scored the winning goal in the 119th minute to secure the win and keep Montreal United in the first division.

A heart-wrenching loss for Inter London, who were moments away from promotion. They doubled Montreal in shots, led in possession, and pressured them for most of the match, but couldn't hold on in the key moments. Mendes did pick up a yellow card and ended the game with one key pass. The Inter London captain left it all on the pitch as it ended with a loss in the record books.
