Things I wish I knew as a manager pt 5
#1
Alright, lets get into the actual simming part of simming. And by that I mean we're not going to actually sim for now.

I'm going to assume at this point that you have FM22 Now the League is nice as it posts for us the files we need to sim exactly. What they don't do is set up the files for you to sim efficiently. This can be found in the "season X files" thread. This is the one for S3 S3 Files. Now you're going to download one of the files there, probably the latest one, and it "should" be an .FM file of some sort. Yes the makers of the game made their own file type and named it .FM.

Take that file and move it to the proper file for football manager. This might not be 100% accurate and I'm willing to help you find it if it isn't exactly this but it should be under documents/sportsinteractive/football manager 2022/Games.

Place the file you downloaded into that file. That is the file where all your saved games are stored. When you next open your copy of Football manager 2022 hit load game, don't hit the top option that is to load the latest save game. This will open up the "games" file I spoke up about earlier. If you don't see the file that you downloaded and placed there (It says "local" for some ungodly reason) you can try and find it from this menu, you don't need to use this specific location for your saved games its just the most convenient as the game will auto place new saves in this location. This will become important later.

To close this weeks article I'm going to explain what you see when you open that file. To have the ability to control every team in the league like you need to for a sim league you need to create a "manager" for every team and to palce that "manager" in control of the team. This can be done normally for any type of save you do. Its done for when people want to do multi team saves or a multiplayer game. Its not the most common thing FM players do but the functionality hasn't been removed. Go to the top of the screen and click between the different teams (the managers that control those teams but really the teams).

I know this seems slow but every step is complex and its good article content for me. Next week I swear we will preform the first sims you will do. the article after that will end the "how to sim" arc. If you have any ideas or things you want to know about being a GM I'm more than happy to take suggestions.

Question for the next article, how many sim tests do you usually do per tactic? How many different tactical variations do you try out?
