To be sitting here at the start of my ninth season in the SSL. I had fully intended for this to be a league where I would only update via my AC / Affiliate / Predictions and not log in much outside of that. Well, clearly that isn't the case and I find myself hooked on being involved in this league. It's been a pleasure to get to know a lot of fantastic users over the seasons and am very excited to see where this league is headed long into the future. Appreciate all the hard work countless of people have put in, and @Canadice, you are the GOAT!

APPROVED

He has the 2nd most goals of all time in the league. He is also in the top 20 of almost every offensive category. Taka is one of only 5 players with 20 or more Player of the Match Awards. He was instrumental in winning the SSL Cup in S2, S3, and S6. He also has won the Founders Shield S4, S6, S7, S8, and S9. He was one of the key strikers on the Hollywood FC teams that won the league championship in S2, S6, S7, and S8. In S7 he won the Golden Boot and made the Team of the Year. He did the same in S8, while also winning his first MVP. One day, he will make the SSL Hall of Fame.

APPROVED

Gintonic has not really had any team significant team success or individual accomplishments, that would be remembered. Luckily there's still some time left to achieve that. But if I have to say something, I think it would be the way Gintonic's been able to operate in the midfield consistently throughout his career, without ever taking a red card or being part of any controversial situations. He's been sort of an invisible, reliable, skilled player, and I guess there's value in that too. At least it shows an example that you can have a decent long career without ever being in the spotlight - in good or bad ways.

APPROVED

He has managed to win 3 SSL Cups, a Division 2 Championship, a Founders Shield, and a Division 2 Best XI. However, the real legacy that Okamoto would like to leave behind, is being a great pillar of the community in Catalunya. Okamoto, along with his longtime friend and teammate Budget Busquets can often be found playing soccer in the community, and volunteering to teach and coach youth teams. Okamoto hopes that when he retires, he can split his time between Catalunya and Japan, and keep doing the things that he loves in the community.

APPROVED

Now, into his tenth season, it's safe to say that Torres has done just that. He has struck fear in the managers, players, and fans of teams he's played against. So much so that commentators expect to announce a Torres goal each time he steps onto the pitch. His work isn't done yet, however. Torres hopes to win a second golden boot award and retire as the SSL's leading goal scorer across all competitions when it's all said and done.

APPROVED

Having two selections to team of the year and holding down the fort in goal for a team that generally has sat near the top or top-middle of the league has been very important to Andersen. If he could help his team win games and continue their sustainable success, it would be enough for him. Athenai were never the top team in the league or won any cups but they were always solid and Andersen had a lot to do with that always finishing near the top in some goalkeeper statistics and probably only losing out on another team of the year selection or two because of his different playstyle and attempts to make big plays down the field instead of making the short easy play.

If anything, Jannik wants to leave a legacy of being a different kind of keeper and proving that even if you are a little eccentric or are a bit different, you can have success at the highest of levels. He hopes that he will be remembered fondly by the Athenai faithful and part of him will always call Athens home. When it is all said and done, he would like to win accomplish more at the team level but even if he does not he will be happy how his career has gone this far. He gets to call a new place home maybe for the rest of his career or who knows what is in store down the line for the great Dane. Legacies are about a whole career or lifetime or work and Jannik's is not over yet, he is still building, still playing, still having fun.

APPROVED

Player Update Page
Career PT#8

As I'm approaching the twilight of my career, it's time I reflect on the legacy I will be leaving behind when I inevitably retire. It will be difficult when I am truly faced with having to lace up my boots, but in the meanwhile, I hope to use this part of my career as a foundation for my post-football life. Alongside my friend, Shion Okamoto, I believe we can do a lot for our community.

Shion Okamoto isn't from Catalunya, or even Spain for that matter. Despite that, he's really become apart of our culture here and the fans have graced him with open arms. We regularly come and work with the Catalans youth. Their passion and joy of the game is infectious and it is what drives us as players. Some players chase money or what team they think will give them the most minutes or the best chance at winning, but here in Catalunya, we've harbour a culture that goes beyond the pitch.

I recognize that I have to be more than a footballer, I am a role model whether I want that title or not. I am really grateful for the role models who helped me and especially for my teammates who have come together as a family regardless of the results. We have had highs and lows which is what comes with the territory, but what I really want to leave as my lasting legacy isn't what I accomplished on the pitch, but off of it.

I want to dedicate more time to supporting young footballers in poverty. I'd like to continue supporting local football and traditions here in my hometown. Supporting this club, this city, and the people that live here who make it what it is. Without the fans, with the volunteers, organizers, coaches, refs, staff, and all the young kids who have a passion for the game, what would it really be? It would be nothing. Despite the commodification of the game, I never lost sight of what was important to me and my family.

APPROVED
