Gerald Gerrard's Amazing Season
#1
After 13 appearances so far for Gerald Gerrard, he currently has the highest average game rating out of everyone in the league and I wanted to highlight what an incredible season he is having. His fourth season in the league, Gerrard is having having a season for the ages his defensive stats show so. To start off, Gerrard is not some kind of offensive star constantly shown on the highlight reel, his 1 goal (even though it was an incredible goal and his only shot on target this season), 2 assists and 0.15 xG so far this season certainly not impressive but that's not what he's here for and it's certainly not his role on this team. He leads the league in key passes (a pass that leads to a good scoring opportunity for your team) with 67, a whole 17 more than second place. He may not get the assists off these passes but he's creating a lot of scoring chances for Hollywood. He also leads the league in both cross attempts (he has 252 while second place only has 233) and successfully crosses (he has 64 while second place only has 47) which shows that all those attempts are actually doing something. He's tied for third with a number of people for chances created with 10 while first place has 13. He's tied in second place with one other person for tackles won with 38 while first place has 42. Finally he leads the league in interceptions with 54 while second place has 47. Gerald Gerrard has been a defensive dynamo all season, making it his mission to make sure that the other team doesn't score as well as consistently and successfully passing it up to his midfields and strikers so they can score. As they say, defense wins championships and hopefully Gerrard can keep this up to get another trophy before the season ends.
