A new midfielder is looking to make a splash within the Montreal United organization. The young and local Floridian sensation, Bismo Funyuns, has taken the American football (not the thrown ball sport) scene by storm with his college soccer team, the Florida State University Seminoles. As an underage freshman scouted from his high school AAA team, Bismo left no choice to his manager who tends to give very little chances to freshman, instead aiming at putting forward veteran presence, poise and experience in the starting eleven. During training camp, Bismo showed his greatness, not only by being able to calm the game down, an asset usually gained through experience, but also by showing his excellence in ball delivery, dribbling and maintaining a high tempo either through back tracking or by pressing up higher to support the forwards.
“We knew a lot about his technical gifts and maturity “says head coach Mr Garvy, “but what we failed to notice is how much of an immediate impact he could have on our team in helping us win. I had no other choice but to have Balake learn from the bench!”
After a remarkable first college season, Bismo was granted exceptional status by the SSL for the draft. For unforeseen reasons, he was unable to register in time for what would have otherwise been his night, as some experts have mentioned. Due to this, he had to go through waivers in order to join a side. Montreal United pounced at such an opportunity and made a big event of signing such a highly touted wonder kid.
With preseason underway, it will be good to see if he can adjust to professional play, despite being only 17 years of age, just as he did when joining the college ranks from high school. All we can say is that it is a very exciting time to be a MU fan!
