Battle for Division 2 Promotion
#1
After the first half of the Division 2 season for the Simulation Soccer League, we can probably lay some matters to rest.

Unblemished through the first five matches, Inter London is poised to run away with the title and make the jump to Division 1 in Season 7. Meanwhile, neither Seoul MFC nor Montreal United mustered a single win thus far and appear destined for a race to the bottom of the table in the second half.

That leaves three clubs in between, fighting for the second and final promotion spot to Division 1.

Currently, AS Paris finds themselves in the driver’s seat for the promotion spot. They, along with Seoul MFC, faced relegation in Season 5, but have eyes set on returning to the top division.

AS Paris and CA Buenos Aires have matching records, three wins and two losses. The difference is AS Paris’ offensive production. With 12 goals scored in those five matches, they have built up a +5 goal differential, compared to +2 for CA Buenos Aires.

With that said, CA Buenos Aires flexed its muscle when the two clubs met on Match Day 4, winning 1-0 away.

F.C. Kaapstad has won its last two matches to make its presence known in the promotion battle, in spite of a -2 goal differential. However, it will take an impressive second half for the South African club, especially considering it has already played both of its matches against Seoul. Kaapstad will have to earn its points while facing London twice, which will make its home match against Buenos Aires and its trip to Paris particularly crucial.

It’s entirely possible this promotion battle will go all the way to the final match day. As fate would have it, Paris and Buenos Aires are scheduled to meet to close out the season, while Kaapstad will be on the road against Montreal.
