Why Jack O'Conner Demands Attention 370 Words
#1
We may only be 3 weeks into the season but there are already players separating themselves from the pack.

Take Benji Atreides, for example. With 4 goals to his name, one could imagine this rate leading to unbreakable records, until the xG of 1.2 is examined. By all means, Benji is an exceptional player who is likely to continue tearing up the league but it’s this authors belief that another player deserves a closer look.

Enter Jack O’Conner. With 3 goals from 9 shots on target, O’Conner has demonstrated an incredible precision that is absolutely clinical. Where the next best player has 2.36 xG per game, O’Conner is dominating at 3.27 xG per game. By all means, as the season continues, O’Conner is likely to continue creating opportunities before finishing them.

Additionally, O’Conner boasts a successful 84.9% pass completion rate and as a striker has found time for 4 key passes.

However, O’Conner is not a player that should be measured solely by numbers that may lack a more complete context. His passion is inspiring. His desire for more relentless. Never content with his play, O’Conner doesn’t find contentment in scoring a goal per game. O’Conner aims to score until his body is physically exhausted. xG is not a benchmark for him, it is a floor he aims to overcome.

O’Conner enters each game with the belief that he will score 6 goals. And while some might scoff at what could be perceived as arrogance, his work rate and ability on the field reveals that this aspiration might someday be a reality. The hardest working player on the practice pitch, O’Conner demands the highest quality out of himself and those around him. He doesn’t only ask for the extra pass but delivers it himself when others need it. O’Conner is the type of player that other strikers in the league should look up to and there’s no doubt that his mark will inspire generations of strikers to come.

Despite the early goings of this league, O’Conner has pushed himself in a way that is sustainable and encouraging. When all is said and done he will be an easy favorite for multiple awards and it would be foolish to overlook him.
