It's that time of year again when the Rashford's are figuring out what to do over the holidays. You've got the hustle and bustle of holidays mixed in with a family that has people living on two different continents. It is never easy to figure out exactly what to do.
But this year is extra special for Mikko. He recently took home the 4-Star Cup as a member of the Newfoundland Berserkers. With a sweet over the Anchorage Armada allowing the team to celebrate in front of home town fans. This year, Christmas is extra special as Mikko has been allowed to bring the cup both home to Finland to celebrate with the hockey crazed friends and family, but also down to Zambia, where Mikko will touch base with the national team and do some light tactical training.
While in Finland, Mikko and the rest of his Mother's side of the family will probably sit down to a nice traditional family meal, though, Mikko has found a love for some North American foods, and made sure to fit a few Christmas snacks in his carry-on. Each year, the family opens gifts on Christmas morning while they sit around a Christmas tree that they cut down from the families property. His Mother, an arborist by passion, always has the perfect size tree grown for each year. The afternoons are spent on the frozen lakes and rivers in the area, Mikko, never one to turn down a skate, thoroughly enjoys the laid back style.
Once they've finished up in Finland and taken their flights to Zambia, the festivities get a little more social. Much larger gatherings happen on a more community level. The local pitch will be absolutely flooded with families as the yearly celebration has local "squads" facing off against each other for glory. This year, Mikko felt so confident he has decided to put the 4-star cup on the line.
After the tournament, its go time again for Mikko, as the season continues in full swing as Hollywood reaches the midway point of the season, looking to bounce back from a few tough losses.
