With the final whistle DeeDee Yoker and the rest of the Reykjavik massive let out a huge roar running to the fans in the stadium. They had finally done it, they had managed to get themselves promoted to the top division.
DeeDee is no stranger to the top league, playing for Athenai for the first 9 years of his career gave him an excellent grounding in the top level, and it wasn't until the mid season switch to Reykjavik that he had actually set foot on a division 2 pitch.
Helping Reykjavik to Division 2 promotion was definitely one of the high points of this old man's career. Although he didn't actively help (i dont believe he even had an assist or goal since he arrived) he fitted into the locker room culture and banter very quickly.
Yoker is now looking forward, forward towards the off-season, towards pre season training camp an running. Towards getting in even better shape and to probably regressing in skill as his tired and weary bones try to help him get ready for another very difficult season in the top flight of world football.
At least he's still got that Buckfast endorsement. He'll find solace in that.
