Reykjavik Roster Troubles?
#1
The way things have been going Reykjavik United have really seen a boost in their play recently. At the time of writing this, Reykjavik sit 4th in the Division 1 table, 1 point behind Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Catalunya (who are all tied for 1st). It has been a very tight race so far, and it should be very interesting, considering the top team and the 2nd last team are only separated by 4 points (we’re not going to mention Athenai who are rebuilding and at the bottom of the standings).

This past week saw Reykjavik play 2 games: 1 league match against Hollywood and 1 cup match against Laos. They managed to come away with a 1-1 draw against Hollywood but got the win in their cup match, with a 2-0 win over Laos. Great effort by the team, but it appears as though they have found a bit of an issue with the roster, which may explain why they weren’t able to win against Hollywood.

Mikko Rashford. Rashford sat out the cup match against Laos because he just wasn’t up to par with the rest of the group. Having a hard time keeping up the pace of play and meshing with the team (he doesn’t have the friendship level of some of his teammates). When he finally complained and he was slotted in to play against Hollywood, he managed to score a goal but the team just didn’t feel right. They got a point out of the match, but you could feel the team was lacking something. One player was even quoted as saying “I still consider this a team” when looking at the Laos lineup without Rashford, who I don’t think took it very well. We’ll see how this story plays out though, but it should be interesting to follow.
