Jailbird - A Vercetti story - S4C7 Words - 219

All he had to do was sign the paper in front of him, a nicely crafted piece of paper above several other pieces of paper related to the terms of his contract. The club was gonna renew it for three more seasons as they believed he still had a bit on the tank and that he would still be a very useful piece to serve for their very respectable backbone. Granted that was all very theoretical, it was hard to tell if he would still be competitive with age already showing its signs but he didn't mind it.

For reasons he couldn't quite tell, it was hard to disavow himself from where he was at. For better or worse, Tokyo was too connected to him. It was hard to imagine moving right now and by all accounts, it seemed like the team was happy to keep their center-back around. Plus, he wasn't the only one sticking around.

Maybe they'd have to temper their expectations a bit. It only stood to reason, right? Doesn't make sense to think you'll be top of the world when you're going against some rather hungry younger wolves and all. But that didn't matter much right now.

For he didn't have a choice but to keep going forward. And funnily enough, he didn't want to have a choice.
