Several matchdays have passed since last we checked upon Alessandro Del Pirlo’s progress in the SSL Academy league. After a tough couple of outings in the first week, Del Pirlo started getting more and more comfortable of the league’s pace, finally getting an assist in a 3-0 win over North Shore in matchday 4.
“It’s been very difficult, especially down the middle because everyone is there so it’s hard to find space. But we have good counter attacks and we play the wings well.” Del Pirlo told the Italian press coming to watch him during training the morning after the game.
When discussing about life after moving to Sweden and the toll of international travel at the academy level, he responded with “Yea for sure it’s difficult but it’s the price you pay for trying to trying to get into the biggest league in the world”. A tough choice for all European born players going through a singular team. Luckily Del Pirlo has some good company with him.
“It is very good to have Amore [Delo] with me on the team. We can speak Italian and support each other during the games and outside too.”
Stockholm’s next games will be important for the championship as they will face two teams they lost to in the first round of games.
