Makrus Tries Soccer
#1
Makrus Jager has been a hockey player as long as he can remember. One day during a particularly long offseason his teammate told him about the SSL. He talked of open fields and a gentle breeze far away from the cold sweaty ice rinks. Makrus thought long and hard about his decision to play 2 sports at the same time. Its no easy task but both sports have some things in common. Mostly endurance and teamwork. Being from Germany Makrus is knowledgeable about Soccer and figured he could pick it up in his off time. Joined by the legend himself Pasta the Turtle, Makrus started practicing Soccer. They duo went to a training camp to make sure they had what it takes to play soccer. Pasta the Turtle already played football in addition to hockey. Who knew turtles were such multi-talented athletes? Makrus on the other hand spends his off time eating various foods covered in cheese and learned the hard way there is a lot of running involved in soccer. Makrus didn’t realize how hard it would be to not grab the ball with his hands. The ball is just right there, and his instincts are to grab it. The training camp instructor made Makrus run laps every time he grabbed the ball. Eventually they resorted to just taping Makrus’s arms to his sides so he couldn’t grab it anymore. This was much more effective. On day two of the training camp everyone learned about positions. Makrus’s figured he would try midfielder since he is a center in hockey, and they do similar things. Makrus was pretty good at passing and ball control. He got in trouble a few times because he runs his mouth. Having played only one position Makrus decided to become a midfielder. With that decision made up he left the weeklong training camp on day two and decided it was time to join the SSL. Makrus is ready to bring teamwork, flair, and angst to any team unfortunate enough to draft him.
