The small coastal town of Balestrand, Norway made waves in the sporting world this week as quadruplet siblings Aleksandr, Berit, Caspian and Dina Skovgaard announced their intention to join the SSL Academy program for the upcoming S17 season. Known for beautiful tourist vistas, the historic village may be new to hosting future sports stars, but the Skovgaard family is not. Another set of siblings from the Norwegian family, Nikolai and Anna have both made names for themselves in the world of ice hockey, with the elder brother lifting the Challenge Cup with the Buffalo Stampede before his retirement. His sister Anna lifted the Four Star Cup with the Quebec City Citadelles, and is a star prospect for the Calgary Dragons in the SHL. Now they’ll be cheering on their cousins in the world of Simulation Soccer, as the four young players fly to Stockholm, where they’ll play out the season as part of the SSL Academy program before the S18 draft. With a long history playing together, scouts will be eager to see how the siblings will perform making the jump to the professional level, and how they may handle the possibility of playing for separate teams for the first time following their Academy year.
