The Season 18 draft in the SSL is shaping up to be one of the largest and most influential drafts in league history! Many power users are making the jump over from other sim leagues and this looks to be a draft for the ages. I will be doing my best to predict the first round of the draft in this article. I based my assessment on the old index, as I couldn't find a better list of team rosters. So if it sucks, sorry.
1.União São Paulo - Alex Calderon - CD - amidships
In terms of power users in sim leagues, Amid is among the most respected of them all. Max earning and holding multiple jobs in every league he's ever touched, he's the perfect user to spearhead a rebuild. USP has a heavy SHL presence, so amid will feel right at home amongst a group of friends.
2.CF Catalunya - Ron Wince - CDM -TwoSocks
Catalunya appears to be badly in need of help at CM and CDM with only Poggio able to play both on the team. Ron Wince is exactly what CFC needs. TwoSocks is an extremely good user with a long history of success in sim leagues. A max earner everywhere he's gone and a great culture fit, he's in contention for 1oa but I slot him in here at 2 due to positional fit
3.CA Buenos Aires - Julian Rubio - ST - donut
Saba (donut) is a veteran sim leaguer dating back to the early days of the ISFL. Additionally, he has extensive FM knowledge, probably the best in the class. BA has a strong forward pair of Bradford and O'Leary, but with Bradford starting to age, they go and get their succession plan right here.
4.Tokyo S.C. - Benecio Aguilera III - GK - CROney3
Tokyo is an extremely top-heavy team with four players over 1300 TPE and another at almost 1200, but the roster drops off drastically after those top few, and they appear to be starting an IA S5 GK. CROney is a fantastic user who I GM in the ISFL; he is extremely active and will max earn. A great user in Tokyo's biggest position of need makes this a match made in heaven.
5.Hollywood FC - Joao Peixoto - CM - Zeagle1
Hollywood is a team with very few holes on the roster, so they have the luxury of going best user available here, getting the steal of the draft at 5oa.
6.A.C. Romana - Jordan Bamford - RD - Bamford13
Romana has an extremely strong midfield but appears to be lacking in the fullback department. Bamford is a solid ISFL main user with strong connections to some of the users already on Romana. There are concerns about his commitment to another league, but Mr. Crunk surely can keep him active here.
7.Schwarzwälder FV - Thomas Hohenhahn - ST - norththegreatestshowman
SFV is absolutely loaded from top to bottom. their only real hole is at striker, where S2 player Owen Fourty-Four is on the verge of needing a walker to continue playing. Hohenhahn appears to be earning well and north just got a league job so he appears to be committed to max earning for the long haul.
8.Reykjavik United - Daedalus Kronus - CM - Laser
Reykjavik is absolutely stacked, with every player on the roster being over 1k TPE. They have the luxury of being able to pick anyone they like, as they have no real holes in the roster. Laser is a fantastic user who has been an outstanding member of the sim league community for years now.
