Well, it's over.
My time in the SSL Academy this season was an amazing experience, having little to no knowledge of the league heading into it. Through 13 games, Santori was able to put up a very respectable 4 goals alongside a league-leading 8 assists. Playing on the right wing of Victoria's attacking front, Santori was able to grab two Player-of-The-Game honors to boot. With all of that being said, here are my official thoughts (NOT RANKINGS) heading into the SSL Draft one week from today:
União São Paulo / Association Sportive de Paris - USP went winless this past season as they are knee-deep in the middle of a rebuild. Although the idea of sliding into a "franchise" role is enticing, do I really want to suffer for a potentially long time before success?
Club de Futbol Catalunya / Seoul Mythic Football Club - Same can be said her; lots of room for growth.
Reykjavik United / North Shore United - Both teams are at the top of their respective leagues, which is truly awesome, but is this a scenario where I would show up just in time for a lengthy rebuild?
Athletice Clava Romana / Inter London Football Club - Same thing can be said here; both successful teams, do I want to try and blend in as an outsider?
Club Atlético Buenos Aires / Athênai Football Club - Meddling in the middle-of-the-pack in both the majors and the minors. Would I be someone to set them apart in the long term, or just another cog in a mediocre wheel?
Hollywood Football Club / Football Club Kaapstad - Same can be said here, although their minor team is better. Where is the ceiling for me here if they have a solid team of younger players ready to move up?
Schwarzwälder Fußballverein / Montréal United - Strong team in the majors with little success in the minors, could I help fill the barrel for the next generation? Or would I be stuck in a rebuild?
Tokyo Sports Club / Cairo City - Middle of the pack teams, what is the prospect for long-term success moving forward? Are they looking to go all-in, or blow it up?
