Weather and the Sport
#1
Sports no doubt have been mostly played outside; and why wouldn’t they? The outdoor space means a much bigger area of play, it's on a field instead of a hard floor to minimize injury, and it has optimal weather conditions. However, sometimes those conditions can take a turn for the worst. Many times we have seen football players slip, slide, and crash into one another because of rain. Even though the play continues, so does the higher risk of injury. Turf fields luckily help mitigate these side effects as much as possible but it still remains very disorienting to the players. On top of that, extremely hot days require constant water breaks.

Since playing in the rain and other conditions is still a way of life for countless leagues, players need to prepare for the worst and adjust accordingly. Nerve de Groot, in a recent interview, said, “I sometimes practice outside when it is raining just to experience what its like to do regular practice when the sun isn't out. My teammates and I know to always be slightly cautious playing in the rain but we always have to try our very best to get the ball and do what is necessary to score.”
