Strength and Football
#1
The league has had its fair share of insane and exciting moments. Now it is time for another season to start! With familiar faces come fresh faced rookies looking to make a name for themselves on the field. Players of all shapes and sizes have graced the field, each using their size as a strategy. Smaller players often use agility to get the ball and run fast. Bigger players may be better at fighting for control of the ball and defending the friendly side of the field. Shouldering a player off of the ball takes power so that one can get the ball in front of them.

For União São Paulo, control is everything. Turnovers are paramount for the team as each of their opposing teams fights to get through the defense. Nerve de Groot explains to interviewers, “For every team, strength is very important for achieving possession of the ball. I have been doing strength training to be ready for the inevitable times when I will be up against someone who can wrestle control of the ball easily. You have to be prepared for any sort of situation and lifting weights and other activities can help someone prepare for a competitive space such as this.”

This is Howie Dewitt. Football is a game decided on the pitch with speed, agility, and knowledge of the game. But key role in these factors is your build. They build of your player matters at this level. Your smarts of the game may have gotten you this far but at this level you now see that these players aren't only smart but twice your size. Brains an brawns. You don't stand a chance if you are not willing to put in the work. Now my situation is one that may or may not be unique. Build and knowledge are both elite levels but the biggest hurdle is going to be transferring from the football field to the pitch. My heart has always been with football. Which one? I do not know yet and look forward to taking this journey to figure it out! In a world of unknowns you have to take advantage of what you can. Today I will be starting an adventure that people will look back at and say that history started here. One of the greatest on the football field will now attempt to become one of the greatest on the other football field.
