Best Minor League Goalkeeper?
#1
I wanted to do a quick rundown of the best goalkeeper in the minor leagues for S18. Who is that, you may ask? Well, stick around to find out!

First stat we like to look at, is handsomeness. And since I couldn't find (or was to lazy to look up) renders for everyone, I'm going to assume that I picked the best one, so our first point goes to Benecio Aguilera III!

Ok, all (non) jokes aside, let's start with Player Rating. There is one clear cut winner here, as Otto von Bismark was the only goalie in the minors to have an average match rating of greater than 7, where he finished with a 7.08. Damn impressive! The next 2 players were neck and neck, with Duncan Walrusson finishing with an average rating of 6.88 and Benecio Aguilera finishing with a 6.87. Can't get much closer than that!

I don't look at wins as a goalie stat as it's certainly very team dependent, and Clean Sheets is something that can also be attributed to the play in front of the GK, but it's still one of the big stats for us, so I would be remiss to not mention that von Bismark lead the minors with 3 clean sheets, followed by Mr. Bartholomew Twinkletoes himself getting 2. Not a lot of clean sheets in the minors, likely due to the lackluster talent in front of the players.

Something that is more directly attributable to the individual GK is the Save %. Here we have another von Bismark W as he lead the minors with a 71.6% save percentage. Next highest is Aguilera III with a 68.89% save percentage. While still slightly team dependent as the players in front of them can ensure more difficult shots, leading to easier saves, it still takes a great GK to make sure those saves are made.

Lastly, the one advanced stat that matters the most, XG prevented. Looks like we von Bismark gives up the top spot, as he falls all the way to 3rd. However, he's still in the positive at 0.62. Another familiar name is sitting at 2nd here, with an XG prevented at a staggering 1.43, Benecio Aguilera III! Unfortunately, he was only topped by his rival, who had an amazing XG prevented of 1.92, that dirty Bartholomew Twinkletoes!

While playing on the best team in the minors certainly helped Otto von Bismark, there's no questioning that he had an amazing season at the GK position. Based on season long stats, it looks like Benecio Aguilera is making a name for himself in the SSL. Who knows when he'll get his chance to make a splash in the Majors!
