GRADED: GRADED: FC Istanbul’s Tactical Shift Fails: Davidović to Return to Attacking Role
#1
FC Istanbul decided to experiment with a new approach, pushing Stefan Davidović into a more supportive role instead of his usual attacking style. Let’s just say it didn’t go well.
The first game against Stockholm was a disaster. There’s no other way to put it. A 4-0 loss, only three shots on target the entire match, and not a single one from Davidović. The team looked lost, completely outplayed, and never really in the game. A match to forget. Stefan refused to make any comments after. Not much else to say.
Then came Jakarta, and this time, Istanbul was on the other end of a one sided game. A ridiculous 9-0 win, 38 shots on goal. Davidović only took three, but with a scoreline like that, it didn’t really matter. The team was dominant from start to finish.
But despite the big win, the numbers don’t lie. In the first two matches, while playing more aggressively, Davidović averaged an 8.5 rating. After two games in a support role, that rating dropped to 6.5. As a result, he fell from the best midfielder in the league down to 13th place.
Safe to say, the experiment is over. Davidović is going back to attacking.
