GRADED: GRADED: Paris Matchday 3

Matchday 3

Paris went into Matchday 3 facing another tough game in an opening set of fixtures that has seen them run the gauntlet of expected Minor league contenders coming into the season.

A cagey encounter early saw multiple changes of possession around the centre circle with both teams struggling to threaten the opposition penalty areas.
The first half chance of the game came from a quick North Shore throw in in Paris territory that saw the ball fall to Shaheen on the edge of the box. A decent effort from 20 yards, easily snuffed out by the experienced Aguilera in the Paris goal.

A period of sustained pressure from North Shore followed, with Paris struggling to definitively clear their lines. This ultimately resulted in the ball falling the Mikko Rashford II, who found the bottom corner of the Paris goal to take the lead.
'26 Paris 0 - 1 North Shore

This story continues for much of the second half, Paris only really kept in the game by the valiant efforts of Goalkeeper Aguilera III.
HT Paris 0 - 1 North Shore
While the score line suggested an even first half, North Shore's 9 attempts on target compared to Paris' 1 told a different story, as did and xG of 1.88 vs 0.47 in favour of North Shore.
Halftime substitutions saw the appearances of Jeplay and Dybala for Paris, hoping fresh legs would provide a spark.
And it seemed to work, as the opening 10 minutes of the second half saw the best contested stretch of the game from Paris, with good chances not taken at either end. A miscommunication in possession in the midfield allows a North Shore counter to happen quickly as Rashford III gets in behind defense and doubles the lead.
59' Paris 0 - 2 North Shore

In desperate need of a foothold in this game, Paris begin pressing higher up the pitch. Wince wins the ball in transition and it's worked to Belmont who plays a wonderful through ball for Mamba to run onto and smash the ball home for his first goal of the season
65' Paris 1 - 2 North Shore

North Shore attempt to regain their 2 goal lead with a spell of pressure in the Paris final third. But they're lazy in possession and that allows Paris to break quickly. Wince powers over the halfway line with the ball before clipping it over the top to Belmont who finishes smartly.
66' Paris 2 - 2 North Shore

Game on! Within seconds the North Shore lead had disappeared and Paris had their tails up, they couldn't complete the comeback could they?
Good chances followed for both teams, with neither side able to convert and take the lead. A throw in is followed by a well worked move from Paris, shifting the ball over to the right wing. Lizard finds Wince in the middle of the park who plays the most outrageous backheel for Belmont to run onto. Paris take the lead!
80' Paris 3 - 2 North Shore

Slab Head goes up to win a North Shore goal kick, knocking the ball forward to Jeplay. Jeplay finds Footcakes who puts Mamba through down the left. Mamba squares it to Belmont who squeezes it through a crowded box.
84' Paris 4 - 2 North Shore

To make matters worse for North Shore, Lizard gets free down the right flank and clips the ball into the box. A miscommunication sees both CB and GK go for the same ball and the ball ends up in the North Shore net! Own goal!
90' Paris 5 - 2 North Shore

Derbatov grabs what he thinks is a consolation goal late, but VAR rules in our for offside. And that's game!
A stunning comeback for AS Paris, with hat trick hero Eric Belmont recording a 10.0 match rating. My man of the match, however, goes to Benecio Aguilera III, the Paris GK who's 9 saves in the first half (13 total) were the only reason the comeback was ever possible.
