ATHENS (AP) -- Austrian defender and member of local Athenai F.C. Valentin Morgenstern has announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he will be taking a break from media appearances after the publication of several different pieces that, as he says, "highlighted only the negatives" and "really nothing positive at all". Morgenstern claims that he's doing this in an attempt to "get rid of the toxic media that has belittled him from day one," with seemingly the growing rivalry between him and former Stockholm IK teammate Aart de Trella being some kind of fuel on top of it as well.
It is also entirely possible that Morgenstern may be frustrated with him and his team's performance in the Simulation Soccer League's Minor division, given that his team currently sits second to last in the league, only above the winless Cairo City. The Austrian himself is doing, simply put, entirely average, with his best performance coming in Athenai's most recent loss against F.C. Kaapstad.
One might have to wonder if this is the result of Morgenstern finally taking some anger management classes, as he's seemed to be quite bitter and easy to anger in recent meetings with the press, not even just with the Associated Press. Maybe this could be the turning of a new leaf in the disgruntled Austrian's career? Who knows.
