GRADED: Academy Task 5: Accracadabra
#1
To most people the academy league is where a group of mismatch young players compete against other teams and each other for a pro contract, no time for team unity or camaraderie, it's dog eat dog with not every player getting that move to a top club. But spend five minutes in the Accra changing room and you'll be pleasantly surprised by way these guys have built a team and not just a group of individuals - spend anything more than five minutes in the youth academy changing room then you may be visited by the local authorities however.

It's hard to pin down what it is that makes this group different, it could be Ronflex's weekly scrabble nights or Gibra introducing meditation evenings at his penthouse in Stockholm or maybe it's just the understanding that to progress as individuals they must work as a team and work for one another. Who knows, but what we do know is they are working their way up the table and have the championship in mind. The season started off slowly, there were concerns talisman Gibra wasn't communicating well with his teammates but these rumours have been put to bed with the former troublemaker now making an effort to intigrate more with the team, this has led to much better all round performances on top of his impressive goal scoring record. The goals of Mr Power have also taken some pressure off the young Swede's shoulders which seems to have helped him focus on other areas of his game.

Behind Gibra there are plenty more characters, Accra's team has the feel of future post on social media with the caption 'the streets won't forget'. Power and Scott bring creativity in abundance, then there is the immovable frame of Ronflex, the diminutive centre back Draz Tathille plus many more. Some pessimists thought the introduction of another forward in the form of Jared Scott would cause unrest amongst the established attackers but the gaffer has found a way of making it work. Scott himself admitted he's not 'playing to his best standards' but the team has 'got his back' and they are a 'tight knit group!'. Gibra told us 'look I don't know what goes on in other team's locker rooms but the Accra team bath is a scene to be hold after games, ladies, alcohol...inflatable unicorns. And that's when we draw'.

It may all implode, this many ambitious characters crammed into one academy sounds like a recipe for disaster even if it producing the results for now. All it will take is a joke taken the wrong way in the Discord or a misplaced pass and the whole Accra talent factory could blow up in smoke. Whatever happens it will be fun to watch! Their 2-2 draw tonight was a reminder of their early season form but it's often said if a team can get points on the table even when not at their best, it's a good sign.
