Following Sydney City's humbling defeat to Port Royal, academy prospects and long-time rivals Louis Ashworth and Badrick Blackwood V were allegedly involved in a violent altercation. According to Blackwood and his team, Ashworth had marched up the staircase to the Port Royal locker room, encountering Blackwood on his way, who was unaccompanied by his "security." After an exchange of insults, Badrick turned to leave, which prompted Louis to kick him in the back sending him tumbling down the stairs; Blackwood claims to have done a double backflip on his way down. The incident was not caught on camera.
The winger was found barely conscious at the bottom of the staircase by teammate Roger Roger, who immediately called for help, notably by repeatedly shouting "Roger Roger." As Blackwood was being escorted into an ambulance, his armed entourage appeared to "take over," ushering the paramedics out of the ambulance, with a gunman taking the driver's seat. The ambulance then sped off, leaving the players, paramedics, and everyone else at the scene bewildered. Blackwood's condition and location is hence currently unknown.
Meanwhile, Louis was spotted being bundled into a black Ford Fiesta outside the stadium which promptly drove off. The Scot is expected to have flown back to either Sydney or Glasgow by private jet, as there are no public flight records of his departure from Jamaica.
The Kingston Police have preliminarily charged Ashworth with aggravated assault. Blackwood's team is reportedly pushing for charges of attempted murder and a hate crime, although these are not expected to be fulfilled. Moreover, Louis is not expected to be back in Jamaica anytime soon.
In an interview with Blackwood V’s father, Jamaica manager Badrick Blackwood IV, the gaffer exclaimed “di bwoy probably deserve ih” (referring to his son.) Nor Sydney City or Ashworth’s team has commented on the incident.
