Reflecting on Shaheen's Season
#1
This season has not gone the way we here in the North Shore had hoped it would.

S18 was absolutely magical. We went 11-1-2, dominating the minor leagues and winning the championship by 7 full points. We returned so many key players from that amazing year we had really high aspirations that S19 would be more of the same. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been.

That’s not to say our season has been a bad one – far from it. We have gone 8-4-2. We’ve scored 48 goals and allowed just 31, an impressive differential of 17. We just haven’t been able to do enough to be as great as we were a season ago. And we find ourselves look up at two teams in the table this season – F.C. Kaapstad and Montreal United – who I want to congratulate for each having remarkable seasons.

Kaapstad has gone 10-3-1 with 41 goals for and only 22 goals allowed, the best differential in the minor leagues. They sit second in the table. Montreal United has gone an astounding 12-2-0 to reach the top, scoring 40 goals and allowing just 22 over the course of the year.

For myself, it was another season for growth. I am tied for the league lead with 7 assists, alongside Henry Fontobens of F.C. Kaapstad and Sam Volta of Montreal United. I was able to net two player of the match honors through our 14 games, which evens teammates Bimitar Derbatov and Mikko Rashford II, something I am incredibly proud of.

Statistically, I created 14 chances for teammates on passes and crosses, the fifth highest mark in the minors. I also ranked in the top 10 for distance run during the season with 155.8 kilometers. Needless to say, I’m ready for the offseason.

I am proud for the expansion of my game this year. I have gone from being solely a creator to one who can also finish on his own from time to time. I had 5 goals on the season on 25 total shots. I think that’s a fairly decent success rate.

I will work with my managers and teammates soon to determine what other areas of my game I can work on during the offseason to continue my trajectory of growth.

This season did not go as we had hoped in North Shore. But it wasn’t all bad, and we are motivated to make S20 all the more better.
