Academy Task 5 : Analysis on current state of the Reykjavik United/North Shore
#1
So as we all know the SSl draft is fast approaching. Therefore, I wanted to analyse what the current state of the teams Reykjavik United and North Shore are . This can also  give us insights about the draft moves these teams could make.

So, without further ado lets begin.

A. Reykjavik United

Last seasons Major League and SSL cup winners. They mostly played a 4231 that time so i will analyse based on that.

1. Their star striker Goddamn is retiring. Mikko Rashford II will take that spot after being promoted from North Shore.

2. They only have one CB at the moment. A CB should be promoted from North Shore soon.

They will have to choose between the more experienced Girard vs the less experienced Berit.

Though it has been reported that both of these CB's have poor work ethic and dont attend training sessions much.

3. Other positions are mostly covered for their preferred formation. We also saw them play a 424 in the SSL cup final, Alessandro Del Pirlo is rumoured to be training hard in the off season to be able to cover that when the team needs it. There is little doubt about their ability to be able to transition into a striker though, they did score a Hat Trick in the SSL Cup Final!

Final Thoughts : They are a very strong team going into to the next season, but season 20 and 21 are going to be very crucial for them. If they dont win any trophies in these seasons, they might be seeing a trophy drought for a while. CB's are their weakest area and it remains to be seen if they can shrug of these issues a bit going onto these 2 seasons. This season is their best chance for doing it.

They have issues at the CB position which will take a while to get upto strength again.

Now onto the next team......

B. North Shore

Finished 3rd place in the minor league. They mostly play a 424.

1. They have 0 natural LB's.

2. A CB spot will open up as one of their current CB's will be promoted

3. They will also want to look into creating competition for the  LAM spot as they look to be weak in that position currently

Priority order of this Organizations draft picks (position wise) according to my analysis:

CB >> LB > LAM > GK

Yes, I know they already have 2 GK's for each of their teams but both of them are getting old now, so they definitely should be looking to strengthen into position.

It will be difficult this season because they already have other priorities they need to fill for their team and also there is the fact that there are only 4 GK's in the academy going into the S20 draft and the organization only has draft picks available from the 2nd round only (starting at the 20th pick).

They should definitely try to get it sorted by the S21 draft.

Thats all for now. Ciao.
