Carolina Salazar Makes the Cut in Medellin

Carolina Salazar, an apparent no-name from Venezuela, tried out for the SSL Academy just a few weeks ago in the neighboring company of Colombia, specifically in Medellin. The speedy winger – who, as it turns out, wasn’t even the fastest winger available for the South America based team – apparently made a good impression as she found herself on the team’s roster with a pretty quick turnaround.

“It’s very exciting!” she explained through an interpreter, “I had spent basically my entire life on local teams with hardworking teammates who know South America’s reputation in the league and to have a chance to play internationally is very fun.” The chance to have transportation over to the practice facility in Medellin (instead of having to foot the bill herself and drive all the way over – a 21 hour trip) was a pretty big first boon; she was last seen waving goodbye to her friends and family from Arturo Michelena International Airport. Her final position with the team is yet to be decided, but the left-footed speedy winger is open to being flexible.

“Midfielder, winger, back, attacking mid, any of them work!” Carolina exclaimed, seemingly working herself up just meters from the practice field, “Just give me a direction and I’ll run with it; let’s blow these other teams in all of these foreign countries away!”
