Commissioner Canadice and the SSL Board of Directors have recently sent shock waves throughout the SSL community with the announcement that starting the following season, there will be no more maximum pay limit for bounty submissions. Currently, the limit for bounty payouts each season stands at 5 million, which also includes money earned from jobs users hold in the SSL. The new rule does come with the caveat of a limit being placed on the amount of training that is able to be purchased by users, ensuring that TPE levels do not increase significantly. This limit will be set at 18 TPE per season, which is what a user receives for purchasing the highest tier of training. Additionally, to counter TPE inflation, the BoD have also decided to increase the rate of regression, which will also start a season earlier in a player's career. All in all, this will mostly be a massive boost to people that hold a job in the league, and to committed earners who maxed out the bounty payout limit regularly and early into seasons. As a result, we will probably see a significant increase in the positional versatility of players in the SSL, as well as more players with a maxed out weak foot stat. A pleasant side effect from the changes might also be increased creative activity from long-term users who currently hold jobs that earn them a sizable chunk of their max earnings, who will now have added incentive to participate more in the story line aspect of the SSL. With last year's big draft class, the forums were dominated by posts of the rookies, and these changes could lead to some more variety in the type of poster in the Player Development section of the forum board. Reception of the changes have been a mixed bag, with some expressing doubt about the removal of the earning cap, while others are excited for the added incentive to churn out more content about the league. Only time will tell what the long-term effects of these decisions will be, but I personally believe it will greatly benefit the SSL.
