The first game of the season literally couldn't have gone better for Montreal and especially for Takeda Takahashi. With a score of six to nil, Montreal came away with the victory and with two assists and two goals, Takeda as well as his team proved that Montreal's minor league victory wasn't just a flash in the pan last season and they're here to stake their claim once more.
"I think all of the training that we did together showed in this game." Takahashi said after the match. "A lot of our goals came because of our passing, and our ability to really put the pressure on in transition. Our defense really showed up this game and made it easy for those of us towards the front to take the momentum and turn it back the other way."
With a 10 rating as well as being named player of the match, Takahashi was modest about the achievement.
"This is just game one, but I think if we can continue the way we're going, then we're going to be able to make a lot of noise this season. The coaches have really come up with a cohesive game plan for everybody and as long as we stick together and continue to work hard and grow, I'm really excited to see where things can take us."
