GRADED: Academy Task 5: Tom Mæddisen
#1
Tom Mæddisen is from Norway. Born and raised in Vestfold. He started out playing for the local team before being scouted by a scout from Strømsgodset. After joining them the career kinda took off. Living the life in Drammen and going through the levels of the youth academy to Strømsgodset. Strømsgodset is a famous Norwegian football club that won the championship as late as 2013. Tom Mæddisen has been a part of every level in the organisation except first team football. A new manager came and didn't value Tom Mæddisen and everybody was agreeing that a change of scenery is the best for both parts. For a fee of £40 mill Tom Mæddisen has joined the Simulation Football (soccer) League this season. The highest price Strømsgodset has received for a player since Martin Ødegaard left for Real Madrid in 2014. The Norwegian born midfielder has high hopes of becoming an influential member of the league. He has joined the academy club Sydney FC and has been a part of three games so far. Managing to create one assist from the defensive midfielder position they have used him in. He has been a bit frustrated with the huge gap behind him due to no central defender on the right side of the central defense. And there's also a midfielder dropping down to get the ball very close to Tom Mæddisen's playing position which has crowded the space a bit. But it is still early in the season and Tom Mæddisen is one of the less good players right now. He has to just do as the gaffer says and believe that it is the best choice. He hopes to make some leaps in quality going on, but as of now he needs to play and learn. Learn and play. Every day. Tom Mæddisen is very excited about the draft that is coming after this season. Tom Mæddisen is very curious about which team will draft him and retain his rights for the future. Rumours say that general managers, scouts and other team personnel have already started scouting several of the talented academy players, but Tom Mæddisen has not been approached by anyone yet. Nothing dramatic about it. Such things take time and as one of the ones with the lowest reputation his time will come. So far since joining Sydney FC Tom Mæddisen has rented an apartment in Doonside, Sydney as recommended by the club secretary. Doonside is a fairly well-equipped Sydney suburb that’s well-serviced by public transport (both bus and train) and has decent amenities to go along with its reasonable property prices. It’s also a suburb that has two faces in that there’s a literal “wrong side of the track” demarcation that separates its standard, better area from its concentrated slice of housing commission spots. Basically: south equals bad, north equals better. There’s a strong history of welfare dependency here and high rates of unemployment, which go hand in hand with prominent drug use to paint what is not a very pretty picture. Fighting in the streets, frequent muggings when coming home from the station at night, and even past instances of machete attacks and murders have all occurred in Doonside. Tom Mæddisen believes renting is a good option as long as the future hasn't been decided.
