Reykjavik Goes Bananas
#1
Zaza Banana has burst onto the scene in the academy this season, leading the way with an academy best 19 goals. The speedy striker out of Cameroon played for the Victoria Falls Eagles and managed his way onto the scoresheet night after night. While the team did not fare very well especially early on in Banana’s career, it certainly did not seem to be due to Banana. Banana was top five in the academy in several categories aside from goals. He was first with 33 shots on target and 58 shots and drew 17 fouls, good for fourth among all academy players. His average rating was 7.72 and he had no yellow cards all season and only two fouls. He did rack up the offsides of course, leading the way with 35 of them.

Surprisingly, Banana was barely scouted. While there were a few suitors who had the opportunity to bring this high profile scorer to their club, he was not chosen until the third round. Six forwards were drafted in the first and second rounds ahead of him and only two of the clubs that did so even contacted Banana. So, Banana was drafted to the Reykjavik United. His journey will begin in New Zealand and hopefully he can make it to the big club soon.

Scrapes through to satisfy the criteria, but definitely could do with some added detail. It's a decent read but is also a little over the place. A higher grade could be earned from a more linear narrative when presenting the information and expanding on it a little.

Enjoyable read though, and truly a crime you were drafted so late.

Media grade 2/5
