2025-07-27, 04:30 PM - Word count:
Headed into Match Day 13, an unprecedented heat wave lingered over the Barcelona Stadium. Temperatures in excess of 100 degrees had players and fans alike passed out under the steamy conditions. Despite efforts to have the match rescheduled, things carried on. Fry had barely tied his laces when Brooks put the first goal away for Hollywood. Things went further south with a second goal for Hollywood in the 13th minute.
Fry grimaced, but it is a long match. Fry's first corner sailed in harmlessly, coming to nothing. A fine effort though, a clear improvement. Fry had worked hard on corner kicks this past week.
A few more ineffective moves from Cataluna and Hollywood scored a third goal, not even halfway through the first period. Perhaps I should have studied Leadership instead, thought Fry. As this went through his head, Hollywood scored yet another goal. Clearly Martel had been studying Leadership this week. Fry put his head down and tried to find some motivation.
Some fine passing through the secondary and the ball fell to Fry. Collecting it from his chest he found every panel of the ball and scored the first goal for Cataluna, keeping the team in the game headed to the second half.
Over the break every player injected some hydration drugs, hopefully to stave off the heat in the second half. An incredible ball put Fry through again, but he fired with the wrong foot and put the ball wide. Very disappointing, but such is the way of things. Fry will have to work on Finishing in the future weeks.
Despite the drugs, Cataluna continued to fade in the hot temperatures. Hollywood, on their home turf, must have better preparation. They weaved back and forth up the field with numerous passes, finally passing the ball to Luiz who obliged with an own goal.
At 90 minutes, Hollywood stood atop 5-1.
