Michati on His Surprise Striker Role
#1
The versatile youngster reflects on his debut up front after assisting in Stockholm’s latest match.

It was an unexpected sight for Stockholm academy fans this week: Danny Michati, usually seen at left wingback, lining up as a striker. The decision turned heads, but Michati justified the experiment with a strong performance, earning a 7.4 rating and providing a clever assist in a 3-1 win.

After the match, we caught up with Michati to talk about playing out of position, his assist for Dwayne Pruney, and what it means for his development.

Q: Danny, how did you find yourself starting as a striker?
“The coach wanted to try something different, and I was happy to step in. It’s not my natural role, but I enjoy challenges. At the end of the day, if I can help the team, I’ll play wherever I’m needed.”

Q: Talk us through your assist, it looked like a moment of real quality.
“The ball came to me just outside the box and I saw Dwayne’s run straight away. I didn’t want to take too many touches, so I dinked it first time over the defense for him to run onto. Credit goes to him really, his finish was perfect.”

Q: You’re known as a composed left wingback. How did it feel playing up front?
“It’s definitely different, you have less time to think, and you’re under pressure in different ways. But I tried to use my vision to link up the play and keep our attacks varied. I know I’m not the biggest striker, but I can still contribute.”

Q: Do you see yourself playing there again?
“If the team needs me, absolutely. I’m still learning and settling here in Stockholm, and every experience like this helps me improve.”

For Michati, versatility may become one of his most valuable assets, whether at the back or up front, he’s already proving he can make a difference.
