Turk Background Story Part #1
#1
Background Information
Besides all the rambling, for this media to make a little more sense, just know that my player Matt Turk in the ISFL is a safety on the Austin Copperheads, and played for the Minnesota Grey Ducks in the minors. The lore here is that my ISFL player just finished his career, but that’s not the case, so just play along with me here. Enjoy :)

Part 1
Matt Turk had just finished a fantastic career for the Austin Copperheads. Was it legendary? Depends on who you asked. Was it Hall of Fame worthy? Not quite, but that’s fine by Turk. What Turk will remember was being the Offensive Rookie of the Year as a wide receiver on the Minnesota Grey Ducks, then locking down the defense as a corner. The memories most cherished by Turk are his rookie seasons on the Austin Copperheads as a safety, then getting promoted to corner in his prime, before fading back as a safety in his twilight days.
Turk couldn’t be happier with his career. As he looked back, he held so many fond memories on and off the field. Actually, scratch that. Turk could be happier with his career. He had been a safety, for most of his career, he didn’t get many statistics. Sure, he was the linchpin of the defense. It was him that had surveyed the field, broken down the offense, made adjustments to his teammates, followed the play through and kept the unit moving. It had been Turk that had led the locker room, boosted the team morale, and led Austin to contention every season. And when a big play seemed to be happening for the opposing team, it was always Turk that stepped up from his position way backfield to break it up. And yet there hadn’t been any awards for Turk. A couple pro bowl nods, but the stats are always given to linebackers or cornerbacks, not the safeties that worked hard under the surface to keep the defense a well oiled machine. Especially when the machine was 11 people, the work wore on Turk. Yes, he was happy to do it, to give his all to the organization that had given him a chance. Yes, he loved the game, his teammates, and the fans. But at the end of the day, the awards shelf in Turk’s home consisted just of that beautiful Offensive Rookie of the Year all those years ago. It had been so nice being the one making the big plays, getting statistics and accolades and all the praise.
Still, what can you do? You only live one life and Turk’s, while not perfect, had been beautiful all the same. The twinges of regret faded, and Turk found peace in life after football. Thank god there were no more injuries, only happy memories and long lasting friends. And then one day, it all changed…

While not directly related to the SSL, it sets the stage for a storyline that the readers watch Matt Turk join the league following his ISFL career. The content that is well-developed, clear, and engaging.
