Tensions are high in the Sydney City squad. Through inside sources, we've learned that Sydney City teammates Jiang You and Seth McNeil needed to be separated after today's painful 6-3 loss to the Victoria Falls Eagles. After leaving the pitch the two midfielders nearly came to blows, needing teammates to intervene to keep the peace in the locker room after the match.
Spirits on the team have been through a rollercoaster of emotions this season. After an uneventful season opener against Stockholm it's been virtually an all-or-nothing results for the Purple and Gold. With a 5-2 loss to Istanbul in week two, the following week the Roo's netted three unanswered against Atlético. Week four offered another sour loss of 6-1 to arguably the toughest team to beat this season: Port Royal. Week five Sydney were gifted another five unanswered against Jakarta. While consistency isn't Sydney City's strength, they were undoubtedly the favourites going into the match this afternoon.
Calls for the Sydney City manager to change the team formation have gone unanswered but hope is on the horizon with the new addition of Hans Grudnar. The rookie had an uneventful 6.5 rating but with Sydney's inconsistent outings, he might be in luck for next match against opponent Adowa Accra FC. It will be a test for Sydney as it will be their first back-to-back away games against the strong Adowa Accra who have yet to be defeated at home this season.
