The Oracular Dragon
#1
It is with great pleasure that I get to announce, that I have been granted the knowledge, one singular unit, about the game of soccer. I have recently come into the possession of an artifact so rare, and so unknown to me that it has changed the very nature of how I approach the game. It came to me one fateful Sunday evening, sometime between 8:30 and 9:00. I was poring over my collection of favourited GIFs, and reminiscing about my childhood games of 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, when I was prompted, by a Dragon, who had crossed my path earlier that day, presenting me with a gift of a single perfect white duck.

He offered me great wisdom in exchange for secrets, and I simply could not resist. How often does an actual Dragon seek you out to offer you great wisdom? Upon agreeing to the exchange I felt the room grow warm, and my lights brightened. I was given a vision, a vision of a man dressed in blue, a Frenchman if I’m correct. Now this Frenchman was playing the game of soccer, much like I do, but with such ferocity, intensity, yet completely and utter poise. There was a merciless calmness in his play, a relentless pursuit of the ball, all to slow the world around him and return play the other direction. And when the vision ended, I was given a name.

N’Golo Kante.

Perhaps this great wisdom is my future, a possibility I could inhabit. Perhaps it is a dream too far away to reach. Perhaps it was some meaningless hallucination. My time with the Dragon was not much longer, and it took me a couple of days to put together the pieces of my recollection. So keep an eye out folks, there’s a prophetic Dragon on the loose!

I was very engrossed. My only gripe was that it didn't fully go into the league, but this was a minor stylistic aspect that I felt would have improved the effectiveness of the piece.
