2025-09-30, 01:43 PM - Word count:
Victoria Falls Eagles put on a great display of football against bottom of the table Stockholm IK, ending the match with a well deserved 3-0 victory.
Adi Gohil opened the scoring with his 3rd goal of the season in the 13th minute after 2 incisive passes left Gohil free at the back post 6 yards out to put the ball past the despairing dive of Talvik. Bobby claimed the assist.
Despite Victoria having 12 shots (7 on target) that was all the goal action from the 1st half but it was clear looking at the statistics which team was on top with Eagles xG massively bettering Stockholm IK - 1.52 vs 0.20. Having 57% of the possession only further highlighted the control they had on the match.
Eagles started the 2nd half in quick fashion with whatever the manager said at half-time still ringing in their ears, adding a 2nd goal in the 5th minute. Gohil ran onto a through ball from Reed, turned back and laid the ball back to Fischer who then proceeded to pass the ball to Karras who made no mistake from 20 yards out with a powerful low strike into the bottom right hand corner. Not a bad way to open your account for the season.
Victory was then all but sealed and delivered in the 85th minute after a great individual run by Bobby down the right flank resulted in his 2nd assist of the night. A low cross being put away clinically by Reed from 8 yards out. It was the least Reed deserved after causing issues all night for the Stockholm defence. Reed has now scored 7 goals and will have one eye on the golden boot, with Montalto of Atlético leading the way on 8 goals.
The extra work Victoria have been doing in the past weeks seems to be spilling over onto the pitch and many fans will be hoping for this to continue.
MOTM - Billy Bobby: Constant thorn in the oppositions side with 5 key passes, creating 2 CCC's and 2 assists. Talisman on the night while running his socks off to the tune of 14.5km.
